A CAPTCHA appears on a step agents need to pass (login, search, checkout).
Who it hits
Agents must not solve CAPTCHAs (vendor policies forbid it), so the cell fails honestly.
How to fix it
- Challenge only on risk signals, not on every visit.
- Exempt signed agents on low-risk steps like search.
- Offer an accessible alternative challenge.
How alt.qa detects it
We tag a finding as “CAPTCHA” when the trace shows this pattern at the blocking step. It only becomes a ticket once it is Confirmed (reproduced in two or more cells or by replay), and we show which personas and agents it hit.
